Brownfield Re-Development
The development of contaminated former industrial/commercial lands (“Brownfields”) is an innovated approach to convert underutilized properties to valuable real estate. These projects also reduce sprawl and assist municipalities in developing/strengthening their tax base by revitalizing urban core areas.
Terrapex’s team of engineering, geosciences and environmental specialists has been involved in numerous Brownfields Development projects, ranging in scope and complexity from a small auto-recycling facility to a 60-hectare asphalt plant with an associated landfilled quarry.
Brownfield Development activities involve:
- coordination with clients, legal counsel, insurance adjustors and other professional advisors;
- liaison with provincial and municipal regulators;
- development of innovative technical designs to effectively address large-scale contamination issues and financial obstacles, and,
- technical reporting and submission of regulatory documentation such as Ontario Ministry of the Environment Records of Site Condition.
