Billing itself as “The World’s Biggest Environmental Search Engine” this site is organized by category and is very easy to use, with no advertising. It is very broad-based and includes categories such as Agriculture, Education, Sustainable Development, Pollution, Government, Water Resources, and Usenet Newsgroups.
The Ontario Environment Business Directory:
This is a database of companies in the environmental business in Ontario (there is a fee to be listed). It allows you to search by company name, city, industry category, keyword or markets served.
Réseau environnement::
Réseau environnement brings together individuals, industry and government with the goal of providing both technical and scientific information in the environment sector in Quebec. On the web site, you can find a link to their publication, Vecteur Environnement.

Environmental Science and Engineering Magazine:
ES&E is a Canadian magazine covering all aspects of the environmental business. The web site includes highlights of the current issue, a searchable archive of past issues and a directory and equipment guide.
Hazardous Materials Management Magazine:
HMM is a Canadian magazine focussing on pollution prevention and management. The web site includes highlights of the current issue, a searchable archive of past issues, a buyer’s guide, useful links to more information on current stories and the “EnviroTicker” of headline news.
The Environmental News Network:
ENN covers international environmental news stories on their web site, or through a free email subscription. The web site also contains in-depth coverage of hot topics.

Organizations and Associations

Professional Engineers Ontario:
The web page for the PEO includes information on engineering practice and the organization, copies of professional guidelines, news releases and reports, and an employment advisory service.
Ontario Environment Industry Association:
The Ontario Environment Industry Association (ONEIA) is a business association that represents the interests of the environment industry sector. ONEIA’s purpose is to strengthen economic activity for the sector by working with governments and international agencies.
The Canadian Council for Human Resources in the Environment Industry:
CCHREI is a not-for-profit corporation that assists the Canadian environment sectors in implementing sound human resource development policies. The web page is a good site for job-seekers and for general information on the state of employment in the industry.
National Groundwater Association:
The NGWA is a large American organization geared to all ground water professionals. The web site includes news releases, a comprehensive on-line database (full access only to NGWA members), links to their many publications, information on courses and conferences and an on-line store.
Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario (APGO):
The web page for the APGO includes information on geoscience practice and the organization, copies of professional guidelines, news releases and reports, and an employment advisory service.

Government

Environment Canada - The Green Lane:
EC’s web site is an excellent resource for information on federal programs and initiatives. It has detailed information sections on Climate Change, Nature, Clean Air, Clean Water and Weather and links to several on-line newsletters and ‘zines. There are also links to regional sites with information on local issues, community programs, weather and publications.
Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment (CCME):
CCME is the major inter-governmental forum in Canada for discussion and joint action on environmental issues of national and international concern. The CCME web site contains information on the organization and its publications, a What’s New section, and information on other issues such as packaging, education, pollution prevention, solid waste and a list of databases for environmental analysis.
Ontario Ministry of the Environment: The MOE web site contains a wealth of information on air and water quality and waste management programs in Ontario. Copies of news releases, speeches and statements are posted, and there is a comprehensive publications section, many of which can be downloaded. The public can view projects posted for public comment under the Environmental Bill of Rights.
Government of Ontario - Government Sites:
This page, part of the Government of Ontario web site, contains an alphabetical index of all Ontario government sites, and includes links to major federal, provincial, territorial and municipal government sites.
Quebec Ministry of the Environment (English Version):
The Quebec Ministry of Environment site has sections on Programs and Services, Water, Air, Soil, Wastes and Biodiversity, as well as News Releases, What's New and links to legislation and other documents (many only in French).
Quebec Ministry of Natural Resources (English Version):
This site describes the Ministry of Natural Resource's functions (in French) and has sections on Forests, Energy, Mines, Land, and What's New. It also includes a portal to the general Quebec provincial government site.
Quebec Industrial Research Centre:
The site describes the Industrial Research Centre's functions and has sections on Development of Industrial Equipment, Environmental Technologies, and Automatics and Robotics.

Groundwater Remediation Technologies Analysis Center (GWRTAC):
GWRTAC is an American agency which compiles, analyzes, and disseminates information on innovative ground-water remediation technologies. Their site contains basic information on remediation technologies and numerous downloadable reports and documents with more detailed information.
Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry ToxFAQs:
ToxFAQs is a series of summaries about hazardous substances developed by the ATSDR Division of Toxicology. Each fact sheet contains answers to the most frequently asked questions (FAQs) about exposure to hazardous substances found around hazardous waste sites and the effects of exposure on human health.
United States Environmental Protection Agency Home Page:
The US EPA is an excellent resource for general and technical information. It contains environmental news stories, links to electronic copies of US regulations, and access to libraries, databases, newsletters and publications. The information database can be browsed by topic or audience type or searched using a powerful search engine.
