Permits to Take Water

In Ontario, water takings are governed by the Ontario Water Resources Act (OWRA) and the Water Taking and Transfer Regulation. Section 34 of the OWRA requires anyone taking more than 50,000 litres of water a day, with some limited exceptions, to obtain a Permit to Take Water (PTTW) from the Ministry of the Environment.

Occasionally, water takings are necessary during excavations, plant upgrades and operations, and groundwater remediations.  Terrapex staff are capable of guiding you through the permit process to identify the type of permit required to satisfy your particular need.  We will develop the application and follow-through with the Ministry on your behalf until the job is done.
