Groundwater management and permitting
The quantity of groundwater pumping determines the permitting requirements of government. In Ontario, taking of greater than 50,000 L of groundwater or groundwater and stormwater require permits. Permanent water takings of greater than 50,000 L per day or construction dewatering of greater than 400,000 L per day require a permit to take water (PTTW).
Construction dewatering of 50,000 – 400,000 L per day require registration of the environmental activities and sector registry (EASR). Terrapex prepares the accompanying reports required for PTTWs and EASRs, and carries out the application process on behalf of our clients.
Most municipalities require discharge permits or agreements to discharge to their sewage works, regardless of the water volume. Terrapex can assist with the sewer permitting process, or undertake the permitting on behalf of our clients.
