Geotechnical Senior Project Manager - Ottawa

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, entrepreneurial, and goal-oriented individual to the role of Senior Project Manager within our Geotechnical Service Line working within our Ottawa office location. Our geotechnical group currently consists of 35 dedicated and talented staff, including 6 licensed engineers and a fully accredited soils and concrete laboratory. Our client base includes leading infrastructure GCs, major landowners, and top-tier developers in the GTA and Ottawa, a variety of government and related agencies, commercial/industrial landowners, construction companies and architects/engineers. We are leaders in in-situ testing, precision monitoring and ground improvement technologies.
Working under the leadership and support of our Geotechnical Service Line Manager and geotechnical staff in Toronto and Ottawa, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
• Project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and regular communication with clients;
• Project coordination, technical leadership, and technical design for public and private sector clients in Ontario;
• Experience in developing and administering project proposals, work plans, and project costing/budgeting;
• Responsible for invoicing clients monthly as assigned by senior management;
• Directly responsible for the health and safety of any person working on an assignment; conduct project site inspections to ensure compliance with all safety and
government regulations;
• Provide training to junior and intermediate staff;
• Oversee multiple geotechnical projects simultaneously;
• Conduct and or manage field investigations to acquire appropriate data;
• Prepare and review geotechnical reports;
• Geotechnical and materials engineering on a wide variety of projects including commercial, industrial, infrastructure and others;
• Construction monitoring and inspection on projects including, excavations, subgrade and shallow foundation inspections, pile installation monitoring, embankment
performance monitoring, etc.;
• Installation and monitoring of geotechnical instrumentation;
• Preparation of field reports and assisting with the preparation of geotechnical reports and proposals;
• Willingness to travel within Ontario including working in conjunction with other Terrapex offices;
• Foster and develop client relations and business development;
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Degree from an accredited university in Geological, Geotechnical, or Civil (geotechnical option) Engineering;
• Registered as a Professional Engineer with Professional Engineers Ontario;
• A minimum of 10 to 15+ years of diverse geotechnical engineering and inspection and testing experience;
• Strong technical and project management skills;
• Superior verbal and written communication skills;
• Valid Driver’s License; and
• Knowledge of local geotechnical conditions and the regional market.

ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTISTS AND TECHNICIANS - Toronto
Terrapex’s Toronto office is seeking to hire Environmental Scientists and Technicians to become part of our growing site investigation and remediation team.
The successful candidates will be involved as a junior or entry-level consultant in a variety of projects for the public and private sector. The work will include conducting Phase One and Phase Two Environmental Site Assessments, supervising contractors, undertaking facility decommissioning and soil and groundwater remediation programs, conducting environmental management programs (including air, water and soil vapour sampling), data interpretation and analysis, and preparing technical reports.
All work assignments require wearing personal protective equipment in adhering to Company and Client Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.
Candidates will need to have:
- an undergraduate degree or diploma in Environmental Science, Earth Science, Geology, or Engineering;
- basic knowledge of earth science, geology, hydrogeology, environmental chemistry, sampling and analysis;
- a vehicle and a valid driver’s license (Class G), as the position involves some travel within Ontario;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills including both verbal and written;
- Self-motivated and safety minded individual with an ability to work independently, as well as, part of a team.
